Considerations for the use, selection and use of laboratory oil-free vacuum pumps

Because the oil-free vacuum pump is different from the structure of the traditional oil pump or water pump, it can be used without any other medium, and only needs to plug in the power supply, and the application in the laboratory user becomes more and more extensive. The most common uses of laboratory oil-free vacuum pumps include suction filtration with filter bottles or filter equipment; connection to a vacuum drying oven with a rotary evaporator; distillation or reactor for vacuum distillation; with aspiration bottle and tip Cell culture waste and other residual liquid after the experiment. In these applications, the laboratory oil-free vacuum pump has obvious advantages in convenience because it does not need to add pump oil or water source. There is no pollution during use, and the vacuum degree and pumping speed can also meet the needs of the above applications.

Users or distributors should consider the characteristics of each different application when purchasing an oil-free vacuum pump to select the appropriate model. For example, a vacuum drying oven should be equipped with a laboratory vacuum-free vacuum pump with a high degree of vacuum. The degree of vacuum directly affects the amount of air extracted and the effect of drying. At the same time, the size of the box needs to be considered. For example, the vacuum oven below 50L can be used with the R610 laboratory vacuum pump, and the pumping speed is up to 40L/Min, which fully meets the suction requirements of such large-sized cabinets.

CH300 is a Teflon (oil-free diaphragm pump made of PTFE, excellent corrosion resistance)

If used for vacuum filtration, it needs to be considered in three cases. The filtered sample has strong corrosiveness and volatile gas is also generated during the filtration process. For example, hydrofluoric acid, etc., it is necessary to use CH300 corrosion-resistant oil-free diaphragm vacuum pump. The parts in contact with the gas are all PTFE. Manufactured with excellent chemical resistance; if pumping ordinary solutions, such as mobile phase filtration, microbial filtration, suspension filtration, reagent buffer sterilization and impurity filtration, the basic model can be fully satisfied, such as R300 vacuum pumping pump, oil-free design, with a buffer cup for suction filtration to prevent back suction; if the sampled material or solid content of the suction filter is extremely high, or very viscous, a model with a higher degree of vacuum is required. For example, R410, the vacuum can reach 730mmHg, which can produce stronger force to pull the filtrate through the filter.

Laboratory oil-free vacuum pumps should pay attention to the following when using:

1. If a small amount of organic gas is inhaled during the operation of the vacuum pump, in order to prevent corrosion of internal components caused by the organic gas condensate, air should be evacuated for at least 0.5-1 h to evacuate.

2. Do not directly suck the liquid into the vacuum pump. If a small amount of liquid is inhaled during the operation of the vacuum pump, do not shut down immediately after the vacuum pump is used. Pump air for at least 0.5-1h to empty.

3. Vacuum pumps should not pump superheated gas. If it is necessary to pump high temperature gas for a long time, it is recommended to add a cold trap in front of the vacuum pump to reduce the temperature of the gas drawn into the vacuum pump.

4. Keep well ventilated to facilitate heat dissipation and extend life.

5. When using for vacuum drying oven, please pay attention: please open the vacuum valve of the vacuum drying box, start the vacuum pump to vacuum the drying box, and then start the vacuum drying oven after the required vacuum degree is reached.

Buying a suction pump with a buffer cup eliminates the hassle of assembling a buffer bottle yourself.

6. When using for suction filtration device or waste liquid suction, it should be noted that the liquid in the liquid collection bottle is poured in time, and the liquid is directly pumped into the vacuum pump, which is easy to cause damage to the vacuum pump. If you accidentally draw a small amount of liquid into the pump during use, please do not turn off the vacuum pump immediately. It is recommended that the pump tube connected to the vacuum pump be immediately removed, so that the vacuum pump can pump air for at least 0.5-1h to empty; if inadvertently pumping in a large amount of liquid into the pump In the vacuum pump, it needs to be repaired in time. Of course, the later maintenance is not as good as the pre-prevention. You can also install a buffer bottle or a water-blocking filter (order number: BS-02250, 100% anti-backup) when purchasing a vacuum pump, or purchase such as R300, R410 itself. The pump body is designed with a buffer cup.
