The Mtor gene can "produce" a key factor, MTOR, which is responsible for maintaining nutrient and stress-induced signaling pathways. The research team found through mouse experiments that the MTOR signaling pathway “follows shape” in the development of female follicles, but the mechanism of action is completely different at different times.

The oocyte at the earliest stage of development is not considered to be in a "dormant" state as previously thought; on the contrary, the oocyte in this period has an active reaction activity through the MTOR pathway. This period of mouse corresponds to the period before and after puberty of human females. By knocking down the MTOR pathway, once the MTOR pathway is missing, women will not be able to expel healthy eggs, that is, they cannot become pregnant. If it is a follicular oocyte that has developed into a growing phase, the absence of the MTOR pathway does not lead to abnormalities, but only presents the meiotic defect of the egg, and the fertilization and early embryo development potential of the egg is reduced.

The research team believes that the absence of the MTOR pathway does not affect the activation of oocytes in the primordial follicle pool, but it is impossible to excrete normal and healthy eggs. Dr. Zhang Teng, a member of the Task Force, told reporters that maintaining this pathway in the best state of activity is the key to maintaining normal ovarian function and healthy gestation in women. It is recommended that women of childbearing age maintain a reasonable nutrition, a healthy diet and lifestyle, exercise properly, maintain a healthy attitude, and avoid stress and stress. At the same time, the downstream genes identified in the study that are regulated by the Mtor gene and play a decisive role in the quality of the egg and the fate of the granular cells can be used as potential targets for preconception examination in women for clinical research.
