Grapes: good effect of summer cutting seedlings

In the summer, green shoot cuttings are carried out on the shoots of grapes that are not yet lignified or semi-lignified. Cuttage seedlings can be planted in the fall of the year and the nursery cycle is greatly shortened. The seedlings with green branches and cuttings have high survival rate and good quality, and are widely used in grape seedling production.

The cutting time can be carried out from June to August. When the new shoot has 5-10 knots, semi-lignified, a certain degree of hardness and maturity, it can be inserted with the scissors.

Yellowing treatment 21 days before cutting, the new shoots cut on the twigs are subjected to yellowing by wrapping with black cloth and thick paper, which can effectively prevent direct sunlight from green shoots and facilitate root differentiation of the roots.

Seedbed preparation choose loose fertile sandy loam or mild clay loam, built into a 1-1.2 meters wide seedbed. Seedbed requires good lighting conditions and convenient drainage and irrigation.

Cut the cuttings with a leaf cutting into 15-20 cm long sections. Cut the cuts slightly and cut them diagonally. The upper cuts are at a height of 1 cm above the upper shoots. Remove the lower leaves to allow the cuttings to come into contact with the soil, leaving the upper part 1- 2 leaves. To reduce transpiration, if the leaves are large, the leaves can be cut off. Insert the cuttings into the whole seedbed at a spacing of 10 cm 15 cm.

After inserting the cuttings, water shall be poured after the cuttings are inserted so that the cuttings are in full contact with the soil. And build a awning with a height of 0.8-1 meters and a width equal to the width of the awning. After the cuttings are survived, they are removed.
